Plans and Goals 2016

Happy New Year!!!

There is something so exciting about a new year.  It is simply another day on the calendar, but it holds so much value.  It is the opportunity to rethink, refresh, and renew.  I don't know about you guys, but I'm coming for 2016 like an avalanche and 2016 better be ready for it!!

SOOOOOOO, I am linking up with Ashley and Angie for this month's #2getherwearebetter.

My little word for this year is....

Tenacity: The quality or fact of being able to grip something firmly.

That's right!  I'm going to grip and I'm going to grip firmly. I am going to be one tenacious woman!

I believe that many times we do SO MUCH, that we fail at a lot of the things we do because it is just so darn hard to hold on to so much at once and to be able to hold on to it all firmly.  #HolyRunOnSentence

I have the ability to be great.  I know that because I have a wonderful support system, y'all.  I have amazing family, friends, colleagues, and church family.  Like, for real. AND my faith keeps me grounded.

Ok....to the goals now....

In My Classroom
Can I just tell y'all how much I love January?  Going back after the break is not so easy, because vacation and relaxing are just too good, but once I'm in the swing of things-I simply love it.  The growth from January to June is Uh-Ma-Zing!
The reason why the growth is so great is because the level of challenge goes from 0 to 60 in 30 seconds.  Like, we dive right in and we mean business.
This year, I will be tenacious about giving feedback.  I'm not talking "good job" and "that's great."  I'm talking effective, constructive feedback that promotes growth and makes students think "wait a minute!  Is this my best work?  How can I improve?  What strategies can I use? What am I missing?".  I want my students to OWN their learning; to be held accountable and to know that tomorrow they can be better than today.

In My Business
This is an area where I really need to take my tenacious attitude seriously.  I started my blog and opened my TPT store in July and I have to tell you that I almost fell over when I made my first sale.  Getting past the fear and doubt was hard, but I managed to do so with the help of God.  Well, now that my feet have gotten wet, I am ready to dive in and learn how to swim-starting with my blog.

You GUYS!!! It is getting a facelift.  I know I've been saying that for months but Gabby Barba has been hard at work making magic happen.  Here's a sneak peek of what is to come...is that not the cutest?
Now I know, I'm using the word cute here and believe me-I LOVE cute, but I also love quality and value.  I want my blog to have quality content.  This year I want to hold firmly to what I've learned and what I put into practice on a daily basis and I want to bring it to you.  I want your visit to my blog to leave you feeling like you didn't waste time and that you were able to get something valuable from it.  I want you to get the same feeling when you visit my store, so I will be hard at work creating products that I can be proud of and that you will have no issue spending your hard earned money on.

In My Personal Life
I'm going to join the rest of America here and say I no longer want to look like the Pillsbury Doughboy.  He's cute and cuddly, sure, but I'm not trying to go for the cute and cuddly look here.  I need to hold on firmly to my convictions about living a healthy lifestyle because my body is a temple.
I will once again start doing my Fitness Blender videos on YouTube and preparing my meals for work.  No more Wendy's and their fries with oooey gooey cheese and tasty chili with crispy succulent bacon....let me stop.
I am also learning how to prioritize time.  As much as I will be tenacious in the classroom and in my business, I need to budget time so that devotional time with God NEVER takes a backseat and that my time with my husband and children is not sacrificed either.  I guess my other word would also be BALANCE.  I like that word.
Cheers to a happy and fruitful new year!

Wondering where to find me?
and of course, TPT
